Reseda

Reseda is situated in a part of Los Angeles, named San Fernando Valley in California. It was founded in 1912 and started developing early in 1915. It was initially called Marian but had to be changed in 1921 when it was necessary to establish a Fourth Class Post Office.

Reseda odorata was a commonly found fragrant plant, so the people chose Reseda as its new name.

Over the years, this neighborhood had to face two earthquakes in 1994 and 1971 with 6.7 and 6.5, respectively. The earthquakes significantly shattered Reseda and were gut-wrenching.

Based on the U.S. census of 2000, 74,363 residents lived in the area, having a highly diverse ethnicity ratio. It contains a larger percentage of Latinos and a significant number of non-Hispanic Whites, Asians, blacks, and some other ethnicities.

The Los Angeles Fire Department serves the community, and the Los Angeles Police Department operates the nearby West Valley Community Police Station.

The town had mainly been an agricultural center. However, after WWI, this changed, and most of the land got utilized as residential areas.

It also has five private schools and fifteen public schools. It has its borders with Northridge, Lake Balboa, Tarzana, Encino, and Winnetka.

It also has various street boundaries, such as Roscoe Boulevard, Oak Avenue, Victory Boulevard, and Corbin Avenue.

Reseda Park and Recreation Center has many activities for visitors to enjoy. It has barbecue pits, baseball diamond, outdoor basketball courts, a children's play area, a community room, picnic areas, an outdoor seasonal pool, table tennis, lawn tennis courts, and volleyball courts.

The recreation center shares its location with the Reseda Senior Multipurpose Center that runs many volunteer programs.

Moreover, the Reseda park arranges a decorative lake for fishing and a duck pond. A regional library also got established in the area that primarily Los Angeles Public Library operates.
