Granada Hills

Granada Hills fall under the suburban residential neighborhood of San Fernando Valley, located in Los Angeles, California. The community started as a dairy farm and orchard called the Sunshine Ranch.

However, the first oil well of the San Fernando Valley gThus, inot established in the neighborhood in 1916. In 1926, Granada came into existence, while after 15 years, the "Hills" portion became part of the name.

It resides at the foothills of the Santa Susana Mountains and shares northwest, east with North Hills, Northridge, Mission Hills and Sylmar, and Porter Ranch, respectively. The Ronald Reagan Freeway (State Route 118) flows within the southern area of the neighborhood.

Additionally, Van Norman Reservoir, the southern terminus of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, is also located in Granada Hills.

In 2000, the total number of residents recorded after the U.S census was 50,535, and the average median age was 37. Ethnic diversity includes 55.5% whites, 20.6% Latinos, 16.3% Asians, and 3.4% blacks.

Granada Hills Charter High School's stadium and the John Elway Stadium are home to the Los Angeles Rampage women's soccer team. It is also the previous home of the San Fernando Valley Quakes.

Located in Granada Hills, O'Melveny Park is the second biggest park in Los Angeles that offers hiking trails and fire roads. The Granada Hills Recreation Center, also called Petit Park, provides an auditorium, baseball diamonds, children's play areas, basketball courts, a gym, picnic tables, tennis courts, classrooms, a dance room, library, and many sports, and arts and crafts programs. Moreover, Zelzah Park is an unstaffed park offering picnic tables and a children's play area.

There are around 16 public schools present in the area, while approximately ten private schools are present in Granada Hills. Furthermore, thirty-two percent of residents of age 25 and above have a four-year degree.
