North Hills

North Hills is a neighbourhood situated in San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, California. It was formerly called Sepelvuda after the influential Sepúlveda family of California; however, later in 1990, its name changed to North Hills.

It used to be a part of Mission Acres, an early agricultural community, and later in 1927, the residents renamed it. The neighborhood has two divisions, North Hill East and North Hill West, that fall on either side of Freeway 405.

Northridge, Panorama City, Van Nuys, and Granada City share their boundaries with North Hills at West, East, Sound, and north, respectively. Based on the U.S. census of 2010, the town had 60,254 residents living there, out of which 24,000 resided in North Hills West while 40,000 people were living in North Hills East in 2009 and 2010, respectively.

Both neighborhoods have separate councils; however, they work together to improve the quality of life on both sides. North Hills West Neighborhood Council got its certification in 2003. On the other hand, North Hills East Neighborhood Council was officially certified in 2013.

The Los Angeles Public Library has a Mid-Valley Regional Branch in North Hills, considered the biggest in the San Fernando Valley.

There are about fifteen public schools in the neighborhood, out of which most of the schools offer kindergarten to 5th-grade classes while only three have levels till 8th. On the other hand, only two schools offer classes for 9-12 grade students.

The community also has few private and parochial schools in the neighborhood that collectively offer kindergarten to 12th-grade students.

North Hills community parks are one of the main attractions in the area that provides Basketball Courts, Children's Play areas, and Soccer fields. It also offers separate soccer programs for girls and boys of 9 to 12 years.
